NH Collection Madrid Palacio de Tepa

The NH Collection Madrid Palacio de Tepa hotel is set in a beautiful 19th-century palace designed by the architect of the Plaza Mayor. Perfect for those looking for a charming boutique hotel, it’s in the Barrio de "Las Letras" neighborhood, the historic center of Madrid’s literary scene. From this elegant oasis you're minutes away from the Gran Vía Shopping area and just a short stroll away from some of Spain’s most famous monuments such as the the Plaza Mayor, Royal Palace, Puerta del Sol, Teatro Real, and the Madrid de los Austrias. You’ll stay in a gorgeous, spacious room with a modern style – think hardwood flooring and a light color scheme. The rooms are filled with natural light and some of them overlook the quaint Plaza del Angel square below. Our suite offers all the extra space you may desire, and is split over two levels.

“It's worth staying but we did have one hiccup.First, the good... Excellent location, good service and everything we wanted to see was walkable.Even the train station was less than a 20-minute walk. The room was also nice and clean. Also, (not good or bad, just a fact) there is a live music club next door. You will hear the music in most rooms until almost midnight.Tough for early birds/light sleepers. Why only 4 stars you ask?We made the reservation through American Express Fine hotels which comes with a $100 hotel credit. We ate at the INDOOR hotel restaurant one night and the bill was about $80.That credited just fine.Another night we ate at the OUTDOOR restaurant that is, in fact, on the hotel's website. No dice on using the last $20 of the credit. The explanation: The OUTDOOR restaurant "isn't really part of the hotel."I pointed out that it's featured on the hotel's website and got the same answer.I then suggested they remove a restaurant that "isn't really part of the hotel" from the hotel's website and got a puzzled look.Full and fair disclosure, the outdoor restaurant not being eligible for hotel credits is in the fine print but I typically don't spend vacations reading fine print.Rant over.”
